no baked goods at home to offer.

½ cup butter, softened
½ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. maple syrup
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Set the oven to 350°F.
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead.
Roll into two long logs and place the logs onto a baking sheet. Lightly flatten the logs.
Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until lightly brown. While still warm, cut cookies on the diagonal into about 1" wide strips.
Let rest for a while before serving.
